Looking to volunteer? AMI-Québec is regularly looking for volunteers to help us with our programs and committees. There are various opportunities, and we’ll try to match you up with the one you like. Training and supervision are provided, and you are sure to join a dynamic team of individuals who gain from their volunteerism as much as they give. Here is a sample of some possibilities:
We need a translator (English to French) for various documents. You must be perfectly bilingual.
We need someone who can write grant proposals (previous experience necessary). You have excellent writing skills, and some knowledge of mental illness is an asset.
Group facilitators – family members and consumers who recognize the importance of their personal experience in helping others cope with their own situations. Experience in support groups as a participant is required and training is provided.
Speakers and Presenters – for our Public Awareness program–speaking to schools about mental illness. You are provided with a Powerpoint presentation and training. If you have lived experience with mental illness in yourself or in a loved one, and are willing to speak about your experience, that’s even better! You must be comfortable with public speaking and have some knowledge of mental illness and mental health.
Fundraising – The more volunteers are involved in fundraising activities, the higher are our prospects. While traditional fundraising activities are in place, we are open to exploring additional opportunities, according to the interest of our volunteers.
Office Work – Stamping and stuffing envelopes, thank you calls, helping with mailings.
If you have a special interest but don’t feel it fits in with the described openings don’t despair. Our immediate need is to ensure our ongoing programs, but you may have a new and brilliant idea that we would like to hear about. Please complete the form below and if you have any questions, please call us at 514-486-1448.
There are many other volunteer opportunities available – just complete this form or call us!
PLEASE NOTE: the vast majority of our volunteering opportunities take place during the week, not on weekends.
