2025

In 2o25 we introduced a weekly walking group and our Well Nest events. Annual events like our staff potluck and summer picnic provide opportunities for good times together. And our Board and Staff got to know each other better at our “speed dating” event!

2024

We were delighted to accept the D’Arcy McGee award from MNA Elisabeth Prass in 2024! We also had fun bowling and at our annual picnic. And we closed out the year with our staff holiday lunch.

In April, Oliver, our young carers coordinator, got to hold a workshop at the 4th International Young Carers Conference in Manchester
AMI received the D’Arcy McGee-National Assembly Citizenship Medal!
It is awarded annually to worthy individuals or organizations that have had a positive impact on Quebec society
AMI staff and board members attended the ceremony
Said MNA Elisabeth Prass: "I can't think of a local organization more deserving than AMI Quebec"
Congratulations to us!
AMI has always lived in Cote-des-Neiges/NDG and we are so pleased to be recognized for our contributions here
Our support group facilitators (including new ones who are in training) and board members met up with AMI staff for a fun and wacky night of bowling!
We discovered that bowling is right up our alley and we were sorry when it was time to split—we had a pintastic time!
There was no time to spare as we put on our bowling shoes and bowled the night away
We have a staff potluck every year at our Executive Director's house. Here is most of our team
Our picnic for volunteers and friends is becoming an annual tradition
Natalie and Oliver represented AMI at the CAP Santé Mentale Conference
This conference was centred on opening the dialogue on mental health caregiving in Quebec
Natalie talked about why she became a family peer support worker
Oliver also had the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with Minister Lionel Carmant bringing to the forefront the importance of recognizing young carers
Oliver co-facilitated workshops on young carers during the two-day conference

2023

2023 was a more normal year. Highlights included the 2nd Young Carers Symposium, a picnic for our volunteers and friends, a pizza party for our facilitators, and Oliver being awarded the Young Caregiver Advocate Award.

2022

Our programs and services stayed online in 2022, but we were able to get together in person a little more often! An important highlight: our Executive Director, Ella Amir, was awarded the Order of Canada and went to Ottawa to accept it.

Our staff gift exchange took place online.

2021

The Covid-19 pandemic continued to rage in 2021, so we don’t have many photos. But we maintained ALL our programs and services!

On a bright sunny day, we gathered OUTSIDE to give our building a cleanup.
It's a jungle in there...
Marc's pants were covered with burrs!
We filled many garbage bags.
Earth Rated sent us a lovely donation and some free supplies for our dogs!

2020

2020 started well…but in March Covid-19 hit. We moved all our programs and services online, virtually overnight, and kept them there. As a result, we don’t have many photos from this year!

Happy 30th to our Executive Director, Ella Amir!

40th Anniversary Gala, 2017

AMI’s 40th Anniversary Gala, held on October 12, 2017, was a huge success. Over 200 guests were treated to great music and a fabulous auction and raffle prizes. Andrew Carter, CJAD’s morning host, was honoured for his advocacy in helping to eliminate the stigma of mental illness.

Open House 2016

Welcome to our new home! Our Open House was held on December 1st, 2016 and was attended by 150 people. Attendees received a tour of the building and enjoyed a warm reception from AMI staff. Nancy Grayson, a longtime AMI friend, said, “I had such a good time last night–admiring your new digs, and seeing lots of old friends! There was such a good spirit in the air that it was a real pleasure to be part of it!” Our thanks to all who came by.

Family Matters with Howie and Alex Mandel, 2016

Our Family Matters event on October 20th, 2016 was a big success! Howie Mandel and his son Alex both entertained and educated the crowd about what it is like to live with mental illness in the family. Moderated by Aaron Rand, and with Bell Let’s Talk as our partner sponsor, we raised $197,000 that will help sustain our programs. Thank you to all for your support!
