Caregiver Groups
These interactive workshops are held online via Google Meet (it’s like Zoom).
Email registration@amiquebec.org or call 514-486-1448 with any questions.
Mental illness is a ‘family affair’; it takes its toll and affects your own experience. Do you have a loved one living with mental illness? Does this sound familiar? These groups may be for you…
Our Caregiver Groups offer an opportunity to explore how caring for a loved one with mental health challenges affects the caregiver’s experience and own wellbeing. They are neither support groups nor education groups. While groups are expected to offer a therapeutic experience, they are not therapy groups either.
These Groups offer an opportunity to reflect on the role of the caregiver– you! – in the relationship with your loved one. Given that ‘it takes two to tango’, any interaction is the result of both parties’ contributions. We all have ‘patterns’ of behaviours that have been established early on; here you can reflect on these patterns and explore if and how they may be adjusted in order to achieve better relational outcomes.
We get wonderful feedback about these groups! For example:
“I have benefitted tremendously from participating in the workshop sessions, and feel much better equipped to continue my journey”
“I enjoyed the group’s sense of camaraderie and connection”
“I cannot say enough about my appreciation of your knowledge and understanding of what we are all living with”
We will contact you for a brief chat to determine whether these groups could be beneficial for you. You must attend all six sessions (one session a week). There are new caregiver groups every few months.
Monday group starts November 9, 7-8:30pm
Wednesday group starts November 11, 3-4:30pm
You are expected to attend all 6 sessions
