Caring for a Friend or Family Member

This interactive workshop will be held online via Google Meet (it’s like Zoom).
Registration is done through Vent Over Tea.

Email registration@amiquebec.org or call 514-486-1448 with any questions.

Being there for someone through illness or mental health struggles isn’t easy. This online workshop explores the many roles of caregivers—whether providing emotional support, assisting with medical care, managing finances, or helping with daily tasks. Together, we’ll reflect on what it means to be a caregiver, when it becomes “too much,” and how to navigate the challenges while finding meaning in the role. Through open conversation and shared experiences, we’ll create a supportive space to explore what truly helps and the power of being in community with others.

What should you expect?

🤝 Introduction to Caregiving: Understanding caregiving roles for family, friends, and community.

💬 Experiences of Caregivers: Real-life stories of caregiving, from short-term help to long-term care.

🚧 Common Barriers and Challenges: Social, emotional, and logistical hurdles we face as supportive friends and family members, including lack of training, limited resources, and isolation.

🌱 Interactive Discussion: Share your caregiving experiences or concerns and identify support needs.

Let’s come together to explore how caregiving impacts us and find ways to support each other in this meaningful journey.

This is the first workshop in AMI-Quebec and Vent Over Tea’s three-event series “Helping the Helpers: Tools for Caregivers”, a series aiming to empower caregivers with knowledge and resources to navigate their roles with greater confidence and mental well-being. Each event stands alone–you can participate in one, or two, or all three.
