Securing Your Loved One’s Future

Planning for the future care of an adult relative with a mental illness can be so daunting that many families delay. Yet parents in particular realize they must make arrangements to protect their son or daughter, and the sooner the better.

Early planning means decisions won’t have to be made in the emotional turmoil of a crisis. Living arrangements, social support and legal and financial concerns must all be considered. Here are some options to explore.

A great place to start: Our friends at L’Appui have put together an excellent and easy to understand guide to tax benefits that are available to family carers and also for people who need care.
