Exploring the Indigenous Family Caregiver Experience

$20/hour, 30 hours a week

Come and work with a small and dynamic team in a well-respected mental health organization. AMI-Quebec helps families cope with mental illness in a loved one.

This position will involve gathering information, stories, and data around the Indigenous family caregiver experience. The contract is expected to produce a report, digestible in non-academic settings, whose format is based on YOUR strengths: it can look like a series of blog posts, a video, a podcast, a written report, or whatever strength you may have. We ask you to submit a sample of whatever format you hope the final product to be with your application. This report will ultimately help AMI better support family caregivers in Indigenous communities.

We will be focusing on the various Indigenous communities that are active, and were active, in Montreal and the surrounding areas which includes, but is not limited to, the Mohawk, Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, and the Algonquin People.

At a minimum, weekly in-person meetings will be held in Montreal as part of the supervision process. Your work hours are flexible but you must be available during our opening hours (9am-5pm). You will be working from home.

The person we will hire will be:

  • Computer literate
  • Very organized
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to follow instructions and work independently

You have:

  • Excellent communication skills in English (both spoken and written)
  • A working proficiency in French
  • Knowledge of, experience with, or an interest in family caregiving

This position will prioritize Indigenous people.

This contract is funded by the Government of Canada and requires the person we hire to be between the ages of 15 and 30; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred; and have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
