Workshop FAQ

If you don’t find the answer to your question here, please give us a call at 514-486-1448 or email registration@amiquebec.org.

Discover our workshops! Visit amiquebec.org/workshops. (That’s where you register for workshops too.)

Our online workshops are interactive. They aren’t just webinars! You will see the other participants and the facilitator on your screen. You will have a chance to speak and to ask questions.

Some of our workshops (like Intro to BPD) follow more of a lecture format, while others (like our Caregiver Groups) feel like you’re sitting in a circle talking with people who understand what you’re going through.

Our online workshops are not recorded.

Workshops start right on time–you will not be able to access them until a few minutes before the designated start time, and please don’t be late. If you are late you may not be able to access the workshop.

We hold our in-person workshops in the board room of our office in Montreal. You will be welcomed by an AMI team member. There will be a facilitator that runs the workshop. Some follow more of a lecture format while others will give you a chance to interact with the other participants.

Workshops start right on time–so plan to arrive a few minutes early. Please don’t be late.

Yes, you have to register in advance for all our workshops. Registration is usually limited–this gives our facilitators the chance to personally address your questions and concerns.

If you register and do not attend, you may be taking a spot away from someone in need.

  1. If registration for a workshop is open, you will see its description and a green button that says “Click here to register”.
  2. Click on that button and then fill in the form.
  3. Make sure you fill in all the required information and click “submit”. If you have filled in the form successfully, you will see a message confirming that you completed the form. If you do not see this confirmation, you did not successfully submit the form and you are not registered. For most workshops, you will also get an email right away with further details (please read the confirmation on your screen to find out if you will receive an email).
  4. If you do not receive an email confirmation, check your spam folder. If it is not there, send an email to registration@amiquebec.org. Your email provider may block the emails from our registration system. If so, we can send you a confirmation directly.

Can I use my smartphone instead of a computer or tablet?

Yes, but keep in mind that the display will look different on a smaller screen and you will have less options–the chat is more difficult to access, for example.

Do I need to have my camera on?

We encourage you to have your camera on. Our workshops are interactive and it helps to be able to see everyone. That said, it is not mandatory, but if your camera is off we may ask you to confirm verbally or by chat that you are there to be sure you’re not experiencing technical difficulties.

Please click here for information about the accessibility of our various programs.

Registration is limited in most of our workshops. This allows our facilitators to personally address your questions and concerns. We do not have waiting lists, but if you’d like to be considered if a spot opens up in a particular workshop, please email registration@amiquebec.org, specifying which workshop you would like to attend.

The majority of our workshops are for caregivers only. That means that you have a parent, a partner, a friend, an adult child, or other significant person in your life who is dealing with a mental health condition. We do sometimes have workshops for people living with mental illness themselves.

Our workshops are for people who are 18+ unless otherwise specified.

Make sure you complete all the required fields on the registration form. If you submit the form successfully, you will be redirected to a page that says your registration was received.

If after registering, you do not receive a confirmation email, please check your spam. If it is not there, send an email to registration@amiquebec.org. Your email provider may block the emails from our registration system. If so, we can send you a confirmation directly.

When you register for a workshop, you are asked whether or not you are a family caregiver. If you are a professional (social worker, psychologist, etc) you may be eligible to attend certain workshops. Answer honestly and we will give you a call to see whether the workshop you are interested in is a good fit.

All our workshops are held in English. Si vous cherchez de l’aide en français, contactez CAP santé mentale (autrefois connu sous le nom Avant de Craquer) 1-855-272-7837 ou Arborescence (autrefois connu sous le nom AQPAMM) 514-524-7131.

All our workshops are 100% free!

Feedback helps us improve our workshops–it helps us know what we are doing well and what could use a little work!
